"Never have a plan; it'll just get in your way." - Marty Rubin
Woke up this morning when rain started hitting the tent. So much for Accuweather. Kind of a blah morning in the tent, and then trying to pack without getting everything wet. This was not successful. On the plus side, I had time to find the best deal on a hotel for tonight - much more successfully. Like $300 off the regular price. 😀
The rain finally cleared up, and we were able to pack up all the wet gear - very late 'checking out' today... We hit the beach at the park before heading out to the hotel for an extremely lazy evening. And showers. Warm, warm showers. Because our bug spray has been useless and we are caked in spray and bites.
The boys went to the pool for some more swimming, and it's been a wonderfully quiet evening. Our room came complete with a full kitchen, so I hit the grocery store to short-order cook some meals for the kids: Stuffed chicken, mac n cheese, and tortellini with alfredo. I opted for a salad as well, so I can pretend I'm being healthy on this trip.
Today's Totals:
71 miles
$201
Today's Song: The Slackers - "Have the Time", because of an in depth music conversation with Hayden in which I was able to introduce him to this band. And I was introduced to a ton of music from him.
Today's Lessons:
1. Mosquitos suck. Per Charlie, who has six bites on the back of one leg.
2. Tailbone injuries make it difficult to do simple things. Like exit a car. Or sneeze.
3. Doing nothing can also be part of vacation. It was great to have a down day.
Tomorrow morning we are planning on walking the Freedom Trail in downtown Boston, and then we are heading to the beach in Rhode Island for a few nights - the kids (and I) are pretty excited about a full day of beach. Busy next few days, so I'm glad we took today off. On to the next part of the trip!🎈
